Welcome to Prairie Quilt Studio!

A charming and vibrant haven for all quilting enthusiasts! Prairie Quilt Studio started as Modern Home Arts in 2013 as a long arm quilting service provider in the basement of Dawn & Doug's home.  Prairie Quilt Studio is Dawn's retirement gig and Doug started construction of "the barn" in 2022 and we opened the Studio in January 2024.  The construction of the Gathering Room addition started the first spring and opened in August of 2024.  Dawn retired from her 40 year IT career in November of 2025 to enjoy Prairie Quilt Studio full time!

Our location, 5354 Hutton Drive, Urbana Iowa embraces the rich tradition of quilting while infusing it with modern aesthetics.  We offer a unique blend of timeless elegance and contemporary flair. The store's warm and inviting ambiance was designed to inspire and ignite your passion for creating.

Step inside and be greeted by a curated collection of high-quality fabrics sourced from a multitude of designers and artists. We have hand selected collections from many designers to bring the most beautiful selections from classic prints to trendy patterns.

In addition to our product offerings, Prairie Quilt Studio is dedicated to fostering a vibrant quilting community. The store hosts regular workshops and classes, led by experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their expertise. Whether you're interested in mastering a new quilting technique or joining a stitch-and-chat session with fellow enthusiasts, the studio offers a welcoming space for learning, collaboration, and friendship.
